Talk Recap: Taming Taxonomy at Orange County UX Meetup Group

By request of the Orange County UX Meetup Group, Alberta Soranzo and I presented our Taming Taxonomy talk to a crowd of around 70 people Tuesday September 10th. Alberta and I covered a case study exploring how taxonomy can be built in a user-sensitive cross-channel manner, a card sorting tool demo, and concluded with an audience inclusive question and answer session. Many thanks to the attentive and fun crowd who asked challenging questions, laughed at our jokes, and contributed great ideas during the peer to peer conversation we facilitated at the end of the session.

A kind comment from the crowd:

My first meetup with group was impressive, Jessica and Alberta were engaging and knew what they were talking about. Most of all their passion about what they do was refreshing…Although I’m not a UX designer…Taxonomy, Information Architecture are key in the UX directly impacting the navigation and effectiveness of websites and apps and I am better informed about these important topics.
