Joe Elmendorf, information architectThe Understanding Group (TUG), an Information Architecture practice headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is pleased to announce that Joe Elmendorf has joined the company.

Joe strives to create quality experiences and promote ubiquitous understanding through thinking, design and development. His previous experience working as a freelance web developer, as an Information Systems Manager at Flannel, and as a UX Intern at JSTOR have equipped him with a broad range of experiences to draw from in his new role at TUG.

“I was first introduced to Joe when he was an undergraduate candidate for an internship with me at Flannel” notes Dan Klyn, co-founder of The Understanding Group. “The introduction went something like this: ‘you should meet Joe: he’s an Eagle Scout and Solver Of All Problems.’  I hired him on the spot, and learned that the S.O.A.P thing was not hyperbole.  Joe is relentless in the pursuit of solutions.  He blends a keen intellect and inexhaustible curiosity with kindness and optimism: a combination of qualities I find to be rare among young people as capable as he is.  I’m grateful he accepted the offer to join us at TUG.”

Joe will work as an information architect and interaction designer from TUG’s Ann Arbor headquarters.
