The process TUG uses is unique: we follow a series of ordered steps that help us develop understanding among our partners and participants.

This “path to understanding” is one that TUG project teams can follow either concurrently or sequentially.

At each step, TUG seeks to understand the nature of the information architectures we’re developing:

• Ontology
  The hierarchical structuring of meaning.
• Taxonomy
  The classification of information.
• Choreography
  The sequences of steps to achieve desired outcomes.

When these concerns are gathered into a systematic and focused inquiry and aligned with business goals and user needs, the product is understanding.
